Crooks & Angels

The crooks thought they had the wrong girl 'cause she smiles like a fool, but --- can you blame her? This is her big break. Philosophies in her pockets. She held onto her childhood lullabies and her own lines to live by. We take chances to discover ourselves. Crashing police cars. Building underground hideouts. We may be falling, but --- it feels like we're only flying with broken wings. We're simply reviving ourselves.

I know I can have a price charming come rescue me, but --- do I need to be saved? I'm not like the girls who want to go to France; have a man magically be a part of me. Men can fall down the stairs and blow me make-believe kisses. It will not make me believe.

I put on my records and I sing like a broken melody. My voice falls apart like a burning doll. Lullabies reborn and there's something awful I can't seem to shake off; faith itself fulfills the secret missions we plant inside of our own heads.

The crooks thought they had the wrong girl 'cause her world is no longer upside down, but --- can you blame her? She changed along with the seasons. Boys who are dusty toys; they swim in their own ocean. Their own paradise ---

We create immortality.
We become the stars.
We smile
smile
smile as one.
